Mengenal Sultan Hasanuddin, Pahlawan Pemberani dari Timur Nusantara Sultan Hasanuddin yang bernama lengkap Muhammad Bakir I Mallombasi Daeng Mattawang Karaeng Bonto Mangape lahir pada 1629 di Gowa, Sulawesi Selatan. Proses meyakinkan Raja Gowa ternyata tidak mudah. Trio ulama itu cukup kewalahan, apalagi harus merombak pola pikir pembuka adat kerajaan, yang alhasil dakwah mereka tidak membawa kemujuran. Daripada menambah masalah, dengan penuh perasaan bersahabat Raja Gowa menyarankan trio ulama itu berdakwah ke Kerajaan Luwu (adalah kerajaan tertua di Sulawesi Selatan dan semua raja-raja di Sulawesi Selatan percaya bahwa leluhur mereka berasal dari kerajaan tersebut) terlebih dahulu. Proyek Islamisasi di Kerajaan Luwu sukses, tetapi hanya satu ulama yang kembali ke Gowa, yakni Dato ri’ Bandang. Dengan demikian, Dato ri’ Bandang mengabarkan kepada Raja Gowa bahwa raja dan hulubalang Kerajaan Luwu sudah masuk Islam, dan tak lama lagi seluruh rakyatnya otomatis menyusul. Berita ini cukup mengagetkan sehingga hadat Gowa mengadakan rapat dadakan. Hasil dari rapat itu adalah Raja Gowa secara resmi menyatakan penerimaannya terhadap Islam pada 22 September 1605. Dengan demikian, Kerajaan Gowa menjadi kesultanan, ialah Sultan Alauddin (I Mangngerangi Daeng Manrabbia Sultan Alauddin Tumenanga Ri Gaukanna) selaku raja ke-14. Kemudian pada masa kerajaan Raja Gowa ke-15, Sultan Muhammad Said, berkuasa. Ia terkenal sabar, pandai berbahasa asing, memahami tata pemerintahan, dan menguasai konsep ekonomi makro.
